She was always meant for sunlight. At least he’d always thought so. Her hair like spun gold. Her personality vibrant. She was light and good personified, once clouded by the dark vampire lovers she’d chosen, each sucking the warmth from her, taking more than she could give. The towering redwood that was Riley Finn had shadowed her with his desire to be her everything. She’d tried. Yet through them all, she’d always found a way to shine. When she no longer bore the burden of slaying alone, she stepped into the sun without ever looking back.

And she was brilliant.

This is beautiful. I love how her light shines through even when it's diminished by Angel, Spike, and Riley. And that last line is amazing. "Brilliant" is a great word choice, not only being amazing but also shining. Wonderful story. ;-)

Thank you so much! Glad it resonated. Yes, the word brilliant was chosen for both meanings. :)

Very nice. It's so descriptive. Giles could see the beauty in all of his 'children'.

Thanks! Although I disagree that Giles sees the Scoobies as his children. My mentors never saw me as familial, nor I them. ;)

I think, in my mind, when I call them 'his', it's not as much a familial thing as them being his to watch over and protect. And I think he saw everyone who was important in his life like that, from ex-demons to thousands of slayers. And yeah, a lot of my mentors, I wasn't family, but I was theirs. And they were mine, too.
