Cordelia Chase's closet had almost always overflowed with dresses, but only two knew how many had been placed inside never to be taken out to be used. Fred gasped when she opened the closet and beautiful things practically spilled into her hands. She didn't know she was being watched as she laid dress upon dress on the bed which had not been slept in in months.

She felt breezes flutter in the room but didn't see the misty eyes filling with tears as she smoothed the skirts of the dress meant to knock Angel's socks off when he was asked out, the dress meant to permanently remove Buffy from his mind, the dress intended for her proposal party . . . It wasn't until she removed a simple black frock that doors opened and shut.

The gown was free of all ornamentation except for a gem that looked like a perfect diamond right at its peephole. The doors slammed again. She nodded slowly, crying and shaking. She knew what Dennis was telling her. This was it. This was the gown their friend had chosen for her burial. It was her last dress, and just like her, it was a diamond in the rough.

Sorry, but it is kinda good to know I still have it. ;-)

Cordy is one of my favourite characters on Buffy & Angel; not quite my top five, but I always thought she was hard done by in development terms; here I love, and totally agree with, the notion that she would choose something so simple for her funeral.

I also regret there weren't far more scenes of Cordelia interacting with Phantom!Dennis.

Never saw the chemistry between her and Angel, but then, apart from when they were separated (when he became Angelus too), when he took on his own series, I never understood his attraction, or saw their chemistry either.

Liked it btw :-)

Thank you! I loved Cordy, but she never got a fair turn. The Angel writers did develop her a great deal more than in BtVS, but she still deserved so much more!

Cordelia's the only reason I still go in for Angel. I'm surprised you couldn't see the chemistry there, but each for their own.
